In order for the Volunteer Research Team to assist you, you should provide as much information about the subject of your enquiry. Where possible and as a minimum please give the soldiers full name, date of birth and approximate period of service and if possible his army number. Any other additional information beyond this you can provide will make it more likely that we can respond positively.
With respect to enquiries concerning other aspects of Regimental history, i.e. other than soldiers who served, please supply as much detail as possible, together with a contact e-mail address so we can contact you for additional information, if required.
Please note that although the Museum has a research library it does not hold service records for those who served with the Regiment. If you require these, it is therefore recommended that the following courses of action are taken before submitting an enquiry:
1) If you know the soldier concerned was killed in action contact the Commonwealth Graves Commission www.cwgc.org
2) If you know the soldier survived then you may consider contacting one of the following sources:
a) Soldiers who served prior to 1921:
The National Archives
Tel: 02088 763444
b) Soldiers who served from 1921 - 1994
Army Personnel Centre
400 Kentigern House
65 Brown Street
Please note these records may take up to 12 months to receive.
Please be aware that due to the volume of research enquiries it may take up to 10 weeks for your enquiry to be processed. We do aim to answer your enquiries as expeditiously as possible with the resources available to us at the time of your enquiry. In the event that we are unable to provide you with any information then if you have not been contacted within 10 weeks of submitting your enquiry, you can assume that we are unable to assist in this particular instance.
